William T. O’Keeffe is a Founding Partner of the Firm. Raised in Cornwall, New York, William graduated with high honors from Fordham University College of Business in 1990, where he was also commissioned an officer in the United States Army, graduating first in his class. William was appointed to the Military Intelligence Corps, and after his graduation from Fordham University School of Law in 1993, he was appointed to the Judge Advocate General’s Corps, where he served in the Reserves at both the Staff Judge Advocate’s office of the 77th Army Reserve Command at Fort Totten, Queens, and at the 4th Judge Advocate General’s Detachment in the Bronx.

William is admitted to the Bar of the State of New York, as well as the Federal United States District Courts of the Southern and Northern Districts of New York.

After graduating law school, William accepted a position as a legal associate practicing trial law at Frederick J. Murphy & Associates, and in just a few years, was elevated to named partner when the firm was changed to Murphy & O’Keeffe.

In 2001, William founded the law firm of O’Keeffe & McCann LLP with then law associate, Michael McCann, and focused on general legal practice with a concentration in Real Estate transactions. Since then, the firm has grown into one of the busiest real estate law firms in Orange County, with attorneys and staff unmatched in the industry.

In addition to practicing law, William is a New York State Licensed Real Estate Instructor teaching real estate licensing and continuing education courses as a faculty member at the Hudson Gateway Association of Realtors, the Greater Capital Association of Realtors, and the Staten Island Board of Realtors.

William is also a Fine Art Photographer, recently favoring aging architectural and street photography subjects, showing his work in several galleries throughout the Hudson Valley. William enjoys hiking, kayaking and playing acoustic guitar (badly). William has served as Scout Master of a local Troop of the Boy Scouts of America.

William O’Keeffe is a member of the Orange County Bar Association and New York State Bar Association. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Orange County Arts Council and is a member of the Goshen Art League, Orange County Chamber of Commerce, Goshen Chamber of Commerce, Association of the United States Army, Boy Scouts of America Order of the Arrow.

Michael McCann

Michael P. McCann is a Partner at the firm of O’Keeffe & McCann, LLP. He attended law school at Pace University School of Law, graduating Cum Laude in 1997, with a Juris Doctorate with a certificate in Environmental Law. His undergraduate degree was from the State University of New York, College at New Paltz, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude, with dual degrees in Psychology and Sociology. He began his college career locally at Orange County Community College.

Michael served in the United States Army as an M-1 Abrams Armor crewman at Fort Knox, Kentucky and Fort Hood, Texas, from 1985 – 1987. He graduated from the armor school at Fort Knox, Kentucky with early promotions through the Excellence in Armor program. After serving in the military, Michael worked in various positions while attending school as a full time student for both his undergraduate and law degrees. He previously worked in a lead acid battery factory doing production work, for the Orange County Department of Social Services as a Medicaid Examiner, and for the United State Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Prisons, as a correctional officer and a case manager prior to becoming an attorney. After becoming an attorney, Michael worked with his partner, William T. O’Keeffe, at the law firm of Murphy and O’Keeffe doing primarily insurance defense and plaintiff’s personal injury litigation.

Michael formed the firm of O’Keeffe and McCann, LLP with William T. O’Keeffe in 2001. His present practice primarily consists of real estate transactional work representing Purchasers, Sellers and Lenders in residential and commercial real estate transactions. He also does landlord/tenant matters, Chapter 7 bankruptcy petitions, loan modifications and short sale assistance to distressed homeowners, simple wills and estates, and other general practice matters as required. Michael frequently offers seminars to the real estate profession to train new and experienced agents on current legal issues, as well as to first time home buyers on what to expect from the home buying experience.

In his off time, Michael enjoys many outdoor and indoor activities, including cooking, renovation projects, reading on the beach, golfing and fishing off the dock out back.

Christine began her career in the legal industry nearly 20 years ago. She brings vast experience to our paraprofessional staff, and is heading up our Mortgage Lending practice, managing files from beginning through closing, navigating all aspects of lending and navigating the new TRID Regulations, and is well versed in residential and commercial leases, Landlord-Tenant issues, Land Use, Commercial Litigation, Wills, Estates, Quiet Title Actions, Collections, and several other areas of the legal industry.

Christine studied Business Management at SUNY Orange, and has been a life long resident of the Hudson Valley.  She enjoys concerts, traveling, having fun, and most of all, being with her son.

Christine’s willingness to grow and continue learning through seminars, school and special events make her an incredible asset to the Firm.
